4:8
8 Behold, great and marvelous are the works of the Lord. How unsearchable are the depths of the mysteries of him; and it is impossible that man should find out all his ways. And no man knoweth of his ways save it be revealed unto him; wherefore, brethern, despise not the revelations of God.
I love the way the verse prefaces the doctrine. I starts you out with the perspective of how magnificent the Lord is and what he has done. It is funny to me to think of all the crazy amounts of work scientist who devote their lives to their work do to discover even a small piece of information. I feel like heavenly father must look down at moments like that and almost chuckle to himself at how little we know. It hurts my head to start thinking about the things the Lord has done. I mean think about creating a whole world and all the stuff that goes in it, and then creating a whole race of people; that is insanity.
I could go on forever about all the things I am curious about in this world but its just not really worth wondering. One day we will know everything we need to and I imagine Heavenly Father will relieve a lot of our curiosities when we are in heaven again.
But I think that my curiosity with the world is why I take revelation so seriously. The revelation we receive through our modern day prophet is astounding to me. It makes me so sad to see people shrug it off like it is no big deal. We become so accustom to the teaching that it is easy to slip and forget the importance of them and from whom they came.
It is just like what I wrote about in 2 Nephi 28:21. We may not be sinning horribly or breaking the ten commandments, but we can still be in the wrong. I love how this scripture calls us back to attention and reminds us of them importance of the revelation we have received along with who it has come from.
