31:20
20 Wherefore, ye must press forward with a steadfastness in Christ, having a perfect brightness of hope, and a love of God and of all men. Wherefore, if ye shall press forward, feasting upon the word of Christ, and endure to the end, behold, thus saith the Father: Ye shall have eternal life.
This short verse is the whole package. It touches briefly on all aspects of the gospel. First, it talks about having a steadfastness in Christ. The definition in the 1828 dictionary of steadfast is a fast fixed; firm; firmly fixed or established; Constant; firm; resolute; not fickle or wavering; steady. I love all these words because they are so final. Having such a solid and sure knowledge of Christ is incredible to me. We need to press forward with a steadfastness in Christ at our lowest points in the life. It is so easy to loose hope and be mad at God, but we need to press forward with perfect brightness and, loving God and all men while we do it.
If we truly learn to, at our lowest moments, focus on and love others, along with God, our lives will be so full of a much deeper joy and love. I think that is one of the most central and important teachings of the gospel.
In this verse we are also commanded as we press forth to feast upon the words of Christ. The strength and peace we can gain from the scriptures is incredible and will help us so much in times of need, along with enduring to the end.
If we can do all these things, we are promised eternal life. What a comforting thing. And it's not the eternal life part I am so excited about, because eternal life alone would be my personal Hell, but eternal life with those I love most. I can hardly handle it I am so excited!
The gospel in my life is such a blessing to me. The testimony I have be nurturing since I was young is finally beginning to fell strong and my very own.
